- Then right click your vista sidebar and your gadget should have appeared to add.

How can I get Windows Vista Sidebar running on Windows XP ?

1) Create a folder in C: (C is the harddrive where Windows XP is installed) and create a new directory called ‘VAIO’
2) Extract the content of the downloaded file into C:VAIO

3) Make a new ‘Environmental Variable’, to do this go to Start, right click ‘My Computer’ and select properties, click the ‘Advance’ Tab and select ‘Environmental Variable’ under the section titled ‘User Variables for……’ and select ‘New’ and enter this information:
Variable name: "VAIO"
Variable Value: "C:VAIO"
4) Download the needed files from here and extract them to C:VAIO
5) Launch ‘setup.bat’ from C:VAIO and enter a RC2 product key, note that entering the key is optional, but some Vista applications check to see If the OS is activated in order for them to work.
6) Close any opened Windows and reboot, or log off and back on again.
7) Get any Windows Sidebar from RC1+ (RC2 I used) and make sure you have these files in your folder:
- Sidebar.exe
- sbdrop.dll
- wlsrvc.dll
- en-US (Folder)
- Gadgets (Folder)
- Settings.ini
After making sure you have all of them, make a folder in C:Program Files, called ‘Windows Sidebar’ and place everything there.
Note: If it is not placed in Program Files, gadgets won't work.
8) Then go to Start> Run> and type ‘cmd’ (without quotes) and type in:
C:VAIOToolsregtlib.exe "C:program fileswindows sidebarsidebar.exe"
And watch it work its magic, (If it fails, go into the ‘Windows Sidebar’ directory, and right click sidebar.exe and select ‘Patch and Run Vista Application’)
9) Copy C:WindowsSystem32regsvr32.exe into C:Program FilesWindows Sidebar
10) Then copy mainifest.xml from C:VAIO into C:Program FilesWindows Sidebar and rename the copy to regsvr32.exe.mainfest
11) Go to Start> Run> and type in ‘cmd’ (Without quotes) and type in these to commands one at a time tho:
C:program fileswindows sidebarregsvr32.exe "C:program fileswindows sidebarsbdrop.dll"
If that fails type in:
C:program fileswindows sidebarregsvr32.exe "sbdrop.dll"
Then repeat this process but change all references to sbdrop.dll to wlsrvc.dll
(C:program fileswindows sidebarregsvr32.exe "C:program fileswindows sidebarwlsrvc.dll"
Then run sidebar.exe and see if it works
,if it doesn’t here are some extra steps to perform :
12) Go to C:Program FilesWindows Sidebar and right click sbdrop.dll and select ‘Patch Vista Library’ and do the same for wlsrvc.dll, then try to launch sidebar.exe and if that fails, right click sidebar.exe and select ‘Patch Vista Application’, try launching, if it says an error that files are missing, copy the entire C:VAIO folder into C:Program FilesWindows Sidebar and try launching sidebar.exe and it should work!
13) Download this and extract the contents and run the .exe file within, after it loads up browse to the Windows Sidebar directory and open up sbdrop.dll and save it as sbdrop.*** (*** meaning whatever it assigns it to) in C:Program FilesWindows Sidebar and do that same for wlsrvc.dll, finally re-launch sidebar.exe and I damn hope it works!

Aero Reloaded
Ok, guys, as said erlier this week, i released today, the first version of Aero Reloaded.
It's stil not perfect, and somethings do look a bit weird to you maybe, if you find such things, feel free to report it in this thread big_smile.png
Overall it's a big step forward in making Vista look like Longhorn..

Aero Reloaded Instructions
- Short Version (for those of us who are already skilled)
1. Patch your uxtheme libraries if you haven't done so already.
2. Take ownership and add permissions for your account for the following files or folders*: %windir%system32browseui.dll, %windir%system32shell32.dll, %windir%system32LCIDwinload.exe.mui, %windir%system32BootLCIDwinload.exe.mui, %windir%system32BootLCID, and %windir%system32oobefldr.dll.
3. Replace the files with the ones in this pack.
4. Copy StyleAero Reloaded to your %windir%ResourcesThemes directory.
5. Reboot.
6. Select the style from the classic appearance window.
7. Click on advanced and set "Boarder Padding" to 6.
- Long Version (for those of us who have no expirience in modding windows)
1. Make sure you are logged into an account with administrative privileges or have an administrator's login info handy. If you have replaced your uxtheme DLL's with the patched libraries, skip to step 5.
2. In your %windir%system32 folder, right-click uxtheme.dll and select Properties. Select the Security tab. Click Advanced. Select the Owner tab. Click Edit and press Continue (or log in). Click your name. Press OK. Press OK in the window that pops up. Press OK again. Now click the Edit button. Press Continue (or log in). Press Add. Press Advanced. Press Find Now. Select your user name. Press OK. Press OK again. Now select the checkbox next to "Full Control" for your user name. Hit Apply. Hit Yes. Press OK and press OK again.
3. Repeat this for the following files: %windir%system32themeui.dll and %windir%system32shsvcs.dll.
4. Rename all the original three files to uxtheme.dll.old, themeui.dll.old, and shsvcs.dll.old. Copy the files in the uxtheme directory in the pack to %windir%system32.
5. Take ownership and add permissions for your account for the following files or folders, as well*: %windir%system32browseui.dll, %windir%system32shell32.dll (this file is used for the moving the shellstyle on top), %windir%system32LCIDwinload.exe.mui, %windir%system32BootLCIDwinload.exe.mui, %windir%system32BootLCID, and %windir%system32oobefldr.dll.
6. Rename all the original files (files only, not the folders) to .dll.old. Copy each of the files from their folders in the pack into their respective directories. Copy StyleAero Reloaded to your %windir%ResourcesThemes directory.
7. Reboot.
8. Right-click on your desktop, open Personalize, click Window Color and Appearance, and click "Open classic appearance properties for more color options".
9. You will see two (or more, if you have other themes) sets of Windows Aero (if supported) and Windows Vista Basic. One of "Windows Aero" or "Windows Vista Basic" in one of the sets will be selected. Select the corresponding theme in the other set. The preview will not change.
10.Click on advanced and set "Boarder Padding" to 6.
*LCID here is the Location Code ID for your current language in Windows. For American English, replace "LCID" with "en-US"; for British English, replace "LCID" with "en-GB"; for Germans, replace "LCID" with "de-DE", and so on.

One of the more impressive features of Windows Vista is its support for 3D. This proof-of-concept is a knock-off of Coverflow (recently integrated into iTunes) with a few extra "twists".
Using the library file generated by Apple's iTunes, this program downloads and displays cover art, providing a unique way to view and play selections outside of iTunes. The program uses Amazon's Search API to retrieve album art.
Harmony assumes iTunes has been installed by default in your 'My Music' folder

Think of this program as an automated art museum. Using a 3D carousel, new paintings rotate in every 15 seconds.
In French, "décollage" roughly translates to "take off" or "to become unstuck". Our application queries the Internet to bring famous paintings to your desktop. Works from a number of prominent artists are retrieved and displayed.
We have provided this example as a stand-alone application, but it may also be used as a screensaver. See the included instructions for more information.

De.Collage requires a broadband Internet connection to operate. Art is requested from free sources on the Internet.

Design is hard to manage when you are constantly trading assets via email. In the design world, this is often a bottleneck in the design process.
Enter echobox: a small workspace explorer for managing design, revisions, annotations, and comments. Just drag and drop to copy your files up to the server and people connected to echobox using the same ftp site will stay in sync and be able to participate in your workspaces.
Notes
To use echobox, you will need an ftp account. This will allow you to sync to your server and give access to others you would like to share your assets with.

At present, there is not an easy way to get colors from Adobe's Photoshop into Microsoft's Expression Interactive Designer (formerly known as "Sparkle".
This widget does just that, allowing you to convert HEX values into Sparkle's floating point RGB values.
Simply copy a HEX value into the top entry field and fp.hue will provide compatible floating point values for Interactive Designer.
